TGO Challenge 2009 - A Slide Show

 1401tgoslides There's now a slide show - restricted to 100 images - click here.

If you want to see the slide show in full screen mode, press F11, or if that fails, on the Internet Toolbar click Tools > Full Screen, and that should work.

I'll leave you to decide which of the two 'Title' screens is most appropriate...

Fab Martin. All these slideshows (I've seen a few from the TGO message board too) are just getting me more and more excited!

Some stupendous photos there, Martin! A sloworm *and* and adder? You lucky things!

Fantastic. Great photos, walk and time you had. Last wildcamp - by the bend in the river and you crossed over to it. Great spot surrounded by hills.

Good Show old Bean!

It's great to have these memories to share like this.

Thanks everyone. Great memories indeed. Yes, Martin, that was a great spot for our last wild camp. We knew it would be because you had recommended it - you were actually there with us, in spirit!

Loved the slideshow - great stuff. Can I ask - what is the tent you were using?
My kids seem to have the idea that I should take them wildcamping so I need something a bit bigger then my old Spacepacker.

It's a Hilleberg Nallo 2, Mark. Probably the best two person backpacking tent available. And the most expensive. Ours has seen well over 100 nights out, including the HRP, Italian Border Route, and two Challenges, but it has yet to be really tested!
For wild camping with children, I would take the old North Face VE25. Available on loan should you wish to borrow it, with room for two adults and two children!
Downside - it weighs 5kg, but you wouldn't be taking it far...
Alcock Tarn, above Grasmere, seems favoured by some of our fellow bloggers. But I'm sure you have your own ideas about where to go.

That's an incredibly generous offer Martin, Ill bear that it mind - to be honest it might be next summer before we go, but I'm quite excited by the prospect so it's nice to plan!
Alcock Tarn sounds like a good idea. I was also considering Stickle Tarn (the one above the Duddon) or Dock Tarn above Stonethwaite, although I haven't camped at either of those spots before.

Both those sound excellent. The Stickle Tarn option sounds very attractive - perhaps this short circuit would be suitable? http://www.trekkingbritain.com/dunnerdalefellsfromulphabridge.html
Very easy, so not too taxing with the heavy tent...
