A View – 19 March 2009

Good Morning!

There’s nothing likely to be of interest from Timperley today, unless you like cooking or driving up the M6, so here’s a reminder of the view we had on 19 March last year.

A view from the top

Given the numerous distinguishing (or should that read ‘distinguished’) features, there are no prizes for guessing the location.

The distinguishing features didn't distinguish it for me, but going back to your blog for this day last year not only answered the question but gave view to a whole host of other fantastic photos.

Oo oo, I know! I'd recognise that coire anywhere.

Bet there's more snow up there this year. Hope the wind drops for you, we're in danger of sustaining some damage today.

Looking forward to your reports!

Cracking photo that Martin. Reminds me of when I saw a similar image of The Horns and Beinn Dearg for the first time, in "The Big Walks" I think. I just couldn't believe that these mountains were in the UK! Beinn Dearg remains near the top of my list...

No prize? But I'm always rubbish at the 'where am I now' competitions - and I knew this one!
It seems amazing that on the 19th of March (in any year) Alligin could be snow free.

Beinn Dearg is a lovely hill, Paul. Great views to the sea and to the neighbouring summits, and a pleasant summit ridge. I can't believe you haven't been there!
Mark - there was surprisingly little snow on 19/3/09, especially compared with my previous visit on 14/4/08, when we decided against traversing the Horns.

Blimey! Someone stuck the world on it's side!

Did you fill in a risk assessment before setting off?
