TGO Challenge 2013 - Getting to the start

Sleep didn't come easily.  The 5.15 alarm wasn't needed.  I enjoyed breakfast with Sue, who kindly rose early and dropped me at Piccadilly station, before heading off for work, only five minutes away.  So she may have had quite a long day!

The 6.33 am First Trans-Pennine express to Glasgow was quiet and on time.  Not a Challenger in sight.  Not in the executive compartment, anyway!

The blue skies and tree greenery slowly diminished as we headed north.  Our swifts are back, but I don't think I'll be seeing any during the next couple of weeks.

Later...

Plockton (is designed by) is bathed in late afternoon sunshine.  The 10 hour journey went without a hitch, much of the time being taken with renewing old acquaintances and chatting with new ones.

Whilst I haven't spotted any other Challengers in Plockton, Andrew and Rosemary were here to greet me with tea and cake, and there's the mouth watering prospect of a meal at Shores restaurant to come shortly.

Thanks Gibson
The phone may present a serious secondary challenge.
(is designed by) equals (pictured), and no, I can't find an equals sign!

The equals sign is:. Get the key up,press 123 key. Press 1/3 key and then the 2/3 key. The = is there.

I see I was right with the First train co.

Have a good night Martin.

Pt 2. Get the key up! Should have read. Get the keyboard up.

Pt.3.
With the keyboard up. Press the left hand button which is a touch button next to the large centre button at the bottom of the phone. It brings up a menu screen where you insert smilleys and a number of other quick functions.
After 2 weeks practice I'm sure you will be expert.

I'm here Martin! I'm in a b&b near the harbour but I'm afraid I went for a cheap and cheerful chippy tea as it's cheaper to waste when my nerves won't let me eat. I've bumped into one other Challenger here several times, forgotten his name already but he's an englishman from Switzerland.
Guess I'll see you Montrose! Have good one.

Good luck with your crossing this year! It looks like an interesting route :-)

I shall be heading north myself on Saturday for a week's walking in the highlands, which I'm very much looking forward too!

Alan R = thanks!★★★

Louise - good to hear you made it to the start.

I'm a bit worried about escaping from Plockton so have hired a guide - leaving the hotel around 9am.
(Hoping this is allowed, I've already been told off for using a Sherpa to get me this far...)

Have a good one Alistair, I'm sure you don't need a Sherpa!

Don't you think you should be in bed? You've got an early start in the morning!

Have a good trip.
