Berlin

Hired bikes facilitated a tour of the city, culminating with a visit to the DDR museum, where the exhibits are usefully labelled in English whilst rather unhelpfully being hidden in cupboards.

It started rainy, then the sun came out. We had a coffee and cake break in a supermarket, despite there being a nice looking café nearby!

The others went up a West German tower. I stayed down and was entertained by a van driver who managed to hook her vehicle onto the tow bar of the vehicle ahead. The top of the tower is today's picture.

Later, we went to another traditional East German pub, where we enjoyed a good meal with a couple of Ulrich's old mates. He used to live here.

I've been unable to work out how to reduce the sizes of images attached to emails, hence yesterday's problems, so currently I'm stuck with one image per posting. It was simple with the S5 but I've no idea as to how to reduce an attached image to 10% of its original size using the S9.

Not sure if this is exactly what you want Martin. After you launch the camera on the S9, press the settings icon, bottom left and that allows you to change the default to a more manageable size to mail.
Don’t know how you alter a photo you’ve already taken but I’m sure it can be done easily. Well I hope so .

Download the app called Send Reduced, it works a treat.

Thanks Alan. I did discover how to alter the resolution when taking a photo, but that's not the solution as i want large images for other purposes.

For the moment I thought an app like Bloggeroid might be the solution, but I'll try your suggestion first.

Here's a copy and paste of my comment from 18 Sept, on your 'Summer in the Alps - Day 52' post:

"Unfortunately, the Bloggeroid App doesn't do the resizing (or, if it does, I've not found that feature). My method is rather more painful: I choose the photos I want from the Samsung standard 'Gallery' App, then I edit them, one by one, in the 'Studio' element of that App, to reduce the size to 50% of the original* (or, if I've got a dodgy data connection, 25%). The one advantage of the laborious resizing exercise is that it then saves the photos in the 'Studio' folder in the 'Gallery' App, which makes it much easier to locate the photos I intend to use when I come to put the blog post together.

(*I have my camera settings with a picture quality of 6 megapixels, so the photos are already smaller than they would be if I was using full quality.)"

It looks to me as if AlanR's suggested App will give a much easier solution!

Thanks Gayle. We are on our way home now, so solving this unexpected problem can wait until we get back. 'S9 for Dummies' will be my starting point.
