Some of the fabric lace retainers have failed, so some of the lacing is now through holes I have made in the fabric. But they are still fine for walking and cycling.
I bought a replacement pair in February 2015 and used these for a 850 km backpack across the Pyrenees (GR11). This pair have now done 1100 km and aren't yet showing significant signs of wear. Friends of mine have had to bin their new Inov-8 and Hi-Tec shoes after, or even during, similar trips.
There was therefore no drop in quality in this instance.Phreerunnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08551842487502221703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-670908392024479748.post-72199869544325911822015-08-29T15:44:32.965+01:002015-08-29T15:44:32.965+01:00from what i have been reading elsewhere the qualit...from what i have been reading elsewhere the quality of keen shoes has reduced dramatically since this review was done. they have a lot of work to do before i would even think about buying a pair of their hiking shoesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-670908392024479748.post-6003407837526494252011-04-13T09:56:33.800+01:002011-04-13T09:56:33.800+01:00Excellent review Martin, good depth of detail in b...Excellent review Martin, good depth of detail in both good and bad points.
Worth a look at when my existing one’s wear out.
Thanks.AlanRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07180571503542781921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-670908392024479748.post-57987255040558132562011-04-12T17:19:51.984+01:002011-04-12T17:19:51.984+01:00Reminder to self:

The latter had an eVent lining which was useless. Lynne suspected that hers didn't have the eVent lining at all! Otherwise she loved them.

I agree that the KEEN.DRY seems to be very effective, the sole looks a bit more aggressive than my first pair (although that might be my imagination) and overall construction looks more robust. I carried Super Glue when using the Mids bought in 2008.

Lynne has bought the Mids again and likes them as much as her first pair, and so far I've no complaints about the shoes.

We can compare notes in the future Martin!afootinthehillshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06670636358354420373noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-670908392024479748.post-13274340502009864342011-04-12T16:49:59.186+01:002011-04-12T16:49:59.186+01:00Thank you number 178. I think I could do the TGO Challenge in these Keens, but I prefer to be surer about keeping my feet dry, which means wearing boots that will withstand deep bog and, if necessary, prolonged periods of rain. I do plan to use the Keens on Alpine hutting trips, though.Phreerunnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08551842487502221703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-670908392024479748.post-53926303646028734632011-04-12T16:29:07.435+01:002011-04-12T16:29:07.435+01:00I've been using Keen Pyrenees boots since last...I've been using Keen Pyrenees boots since last summer and I'm very impressed with them. I did have to have a half size bigger than usual, but they suit my wide feet very well. I intend to do the TGO Challenge in them in May. They're also very waterproof but not nearly as sweaty as some goretex lined boots I've had before.
I might have a look at these shoes for summer walking.
Thanks for an interesting review.Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16317036646487413481noreply@blogger.com
