The western section for us was made hard by the ice on Sunday morning (as well as the wind). It's just a shame we aren't skilled enough to do (this year's) section 3, or I'm sure we'd be able to get to CdeB bronze standard, given a good run.
MartinPhreerunnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08551842487502221703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-670908392024479748.post-47358845547241188792009-02-24T03:38:00.000+00:002009-02-24T03:38:00.000+00:00Congratulations on your completed sections and tha...Congratulations on your completed sections and thanks for the entertaining report!

Usually the eastern CSM day is serious work and the western day is a bit less strenuous. After three missed Bronzes, one completed Bronze, two touring years with the family, one missed Silver, one completed Silver, one missed Gold and six completed Golds, I will say that I've never had such a tough western half. Contributing factors were getting the wax right, the wind and (Golds only) the additional distance this year. So do come back, because it should be easier next time.

Also, Ken's right about the smoke at Gold Camp. My wife banishes my kit from the house for a few days after each ski marathon. I don't know what wood we're burning, but it sure isn't sugar maple.

Cheers -- JohnAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-670908392024479748.post-50922394994625734282009-02-15T22:55:00.000+00:002009-02-15T22:55:00.000+00:00Congratulations Hazel, you got through it all! It's for that reason we will be attending the TGO Challenge High Altitude Training Camp this year! Fantastic reading Martin and what a trip you had. You'll skip over those hills on the Challenge with all that fitness.
