This page summarises our Lake District backpacking trip in 2008.
Our web page, giving full details of the actual route, and some additional panoramic images, is here.
The trip was 'blogged' as we went along, with numerous additional images added later.
The entire blog can be viewed here. You will need to click on 'older posts' and go to the bottom of the page to start at the beginning, or you can select individual days from the index below:
Day 1 - Ravenglass to Eskdale - Deepest Summer
Day 2 - Eskdale to Wasdale - A Sca Fell Day
Day 3 - Wasdale to Black Sail - Through the Mist
Day 4 - Black Sail to Buttermere - A Cream Tea Day
Day 5 - Buttermere to Byersteads - A Fine Lakeland Day
Day 6 - Byersteads to Dubwath - Low Level Heaven
Day 7 - Dubwath to Caldbeck - Whoosh!
Day 8 - Caldbeck to Dalston - The Home Run
If you try this route you will realise that it can be varied considerably, depending upon the ambitions of the party.
We would have stayed at Skiddaw House and walked up Skiddaw had Skiddaw House YHA not been full.
I am happy to answer any questions or queries anyone may have.
Followed your walk with interest - I'd had a couple of days in Eskdale just before you started. Have gone back to look at the photos you posted, but having tried to read from the beginning couldn't be faffed to keep scrolling up and down the screen so just scrolled all the way down the page. So ended where you started at Ravenglass! You sounded to have had a good time - but going to have a bit of a rest now?!

ReplyDeleteThe blogger software by its very nature (and I think this applies to all blogging software) does have a few drawbacks, such as showing the latest upload at the top of the page. That's why I did a separate index page that people can return to via the 'go back' button/arrow, and I also did a web page that shows all the route details, and some panoramic photos not suited to the 'blogger' format. That page can be used in the same way using the go back button. The blog is very much a personal record though, and those who weren't on the trip will probably just be happy to scan the entries in the way you have done.
BTW, there's no rest for the wicked, we'll soon be on another trip.
