January 2025 - More snow in Timperley

Thursday 9 January

Along the Bridgewater Canal towpath to Sale and back.

Friday 10 January

The path beside De Quincey Park to Stamford Brook, and back via the path beside West Tinperley Nature Reserve, where a hungry robin followed me for some way.

Saturday 11 January

With all the local parkruns cancelled because of icy conditions (the closest was Heaton Park where there were 1129 finishers), we were joined by Paul, Jeanette and Rufus for a 5km 'not parkrun' from Timperley Bridge.

Our route took us through Pickering Lodge Park.

Then a visit to Di Martino's cafe for coffees and croissants in Timperley, followed by a walk down Stockport Road to our local golf course.

Moving on, we reached King George V Pool.

The local robin followed us around despite the presence of Rufus.

On the pond - with a machine working to maintain a patch of open water - lots of mallards and black-headed gulls, as well as moorhens and coots.

The 5km took over an hour and a quarter.

That's it, the following day was overcast and the start of a slow thaw, with the frozen snow turning to ice.
