Where am I Now?

Another random view, this time from an evening walk on 12 July 2005. Is that there spec in the distance BC having an adventure? (You may need to click on the image for a larger version.)

Where am I Now?

In October 2004, Sue, Andrew, Colin and I met up to walk a section of the South West Coast Path that we'd previously missed. Collating the diary entries and photos from all these trips is still an outstanding project.

Does anyone know the identity of the subject of this picture taken on 7 October 2004 during that trip? I'll add that information in a couple of days if nobody guesses.

See Comments:
BC: The Bude Light Statue. But did you see it at night?
Me:
Well done BC. My diary says 'The Bude Millenium Spire', and we didn't see it at night. We continued to Widemouth Manor, but staying in Bude may have provided a superior experience!

Where am I now?

More memories - possibly of more interest to readers than tonight's 5km 'Sizzler' race. It will be a sizzler!

In 2003 Sue and I enjoyed a trip to the Dolomites, during which our first digital camera took a few pictures, including this one featuring Don, Dave, Sue, Liz, Nick, Andrew and Catherine.

I think it was probably near Rifugio Fondo Savio, before some of us set off along the Bonacassa Way via ferrata, on 21 July.

Won't it be nice to return there one day?

The trip precedes this blog by over four years, but I did record events here, should anyone be interested.

Where am I now?

I don't expect an answer to the question. Thumbing through old photos, this one caught my eye. It brings back the distant memory of a backpack with Andrew and Gary from Kendal to Keswick. Very few pictures were taken on this day, 4 June 2005, but this one stood out. We walked from Kendal Youth Hostel to Windermere Youth Hostel (which is at Troutbeck), via Staveley, near where this picture must have been taken. My camera broke soon after that.

I wonder how much Andrew and Gary remember of this trip. Shall I 'bloggerise' the diary?

Where am I Now?

Another random image from a sunny March day in 2003.

(There's not much news from Timperley today...)

Where am I Now!

Perhaps the emerald shades in this 18 June 2005 image give a clue to the location!

Happy Days!

No comments later: this is a coastal view near the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.

Where am I Now?

I haven't time to log all the Christmas quiz pictures today, so here's another random effort, from 25 September 2005. It's obviously the Peak District, but can anyone remind me as to which dale we were looking into?

Thursday 17 December 2020 - A Sunny Day in the North

While I was supervising the decorator and vetting TGO Challenge routes, and Sue was supervising vaccinations with an unexpected result, these two went swanning off to distant sunny parts. It looks cold, though. Where were they today?

Well now, wherever is she striving to reach this time? I'm sure that BC will know...

Where Is She Now?

This was a memorable day. We walked for more than 30 miles. Sue is resting at a summit before the half way point. Was it really as long ago as 5 July 2003? It seemed a long day then; who knows how long it would take us these days!

However, we often go up to this spot on a shorter outing, on our way to a rocky ridge beyond the distant water, which is actually only a few minutes walk away.

Memories

Just a routine Sunday today:

(not)parkrun, trying to reassemble study, lots of family 'Zooming', cooking lasagne and stew, receiving a TGO Challenger's route to vet... not terribly photogenic, so today's pictures are just a few random images that have been retained on my phone.

Above - on a TransAlp bike ride.

Below - a Lancashire rainbow.

Parkrunners, proud of having finished the previous Sunday's Manchester Marathon (2018).

Eddie and Heather at Bridge of Gaur Guest House, whilst I was walking across Scotland on a TGO Challenge. I wonder how they are coping with Covid.

And finally, for today, a picture taken near home on the Trans Pennine Trail in summer.

 Have a good week, everyone.

Where Am I Now?

Entries on these pages may be a little sparse for a while due to other priorities. Today's skim through a few images came up with this arguably spectacular one...

22 March 2003 - Where were we then?

I wonder when we will next be allowed to go here?

Saturday 24 June 2006 - Somewhere in the Pyrenees

Here's another dive into random pictures from 2006. Judging by some of the pictures taken on this day, I was somewhere near the Col du Tourmalet. The rack railway in the above image looks interesting.

Saturday 12 August 2006 - Visit to a Landmark

I've discovered amongst the debris removed from our recently decorated dining room, a pile of photos numbered 1 to 246. I think they come from 2006, and I probably also have digital versions. Do I tackle the pile and put them in a scrap book, or do I rely on the digital versions, which currently are not indexed, just - if I can find them - sitting on the computer hard drive (well, they must have been on at least four hard drives by now) waiting for someone to notice them.

Moreover, today I've borrowed from Dot an album compiled by my dad that gives a pictorial family history from 1947 to 1977. That just has to be scanned for the family archives.

What to do next, then?

Meanwhile I'm distracted by the black humour of 'The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden', and I've run out of time to make a meaningful posting today, so I can merely offer a picture (not in the pile of 246) from what turned out to be a mildly eventful weekend in 2006 and resulted in the largest insurance claim I have ever made.

I would guess that most readers will only require a quick glance to recognise where we were that day.

A Bridge

I was short of time to create a posting today, so here's a picture to keep Dot happy.

Any idea when and where it may have been taken? (Click on the image for better resolution.)

Where was I then?

1201quiz

Here’s a pleasing image to look at on a cold February morning, looking out onto one of my favourite places.

More pictures to follow below when someone identifies the location.

…well, it took Conrad less than an hour and a half, probably much less if he had seen the posting earlier.

The above picture was taken on 24 August 2005 from the tunnel windows of the Sentiero de Luca/Innerkofler via ferrata on (in) Monte Paterno. I was accompanied by Sue, Ken, Ian and Megan.

The following pictures were taken at Forcella Lavaredo and Rifugio Tre Cime-Locatelli on 16 July 2007.

Happy Days…

NB – Tre Cime is also known as Drei Zinnen – it’s part an area that has a turbulent past.

Where were we on 6 November 2004?

1101

OK, clever clogs (Gayle and Conrad), the name of the mountain (seven letters) is what I’m looking for, but you can name the place where we were camping if you like.

Happy days, and a test of your IT savvy!

Where am I Today?

1001tpt1

I’ve swapped the snow of Ottawa for the sleet and bitter NE breeze closer to home. But where exactly am I today?

Here’s a detail from the milepost.
