A five minute bus ride took us to the Ehrwalder Almbahn gondola. We used this today to take us up to 1500 metres (Ehrwald is about 1000 metres).
Here's a view from the start of the 14km walk.
It was a lovely sunny, warm day, if a bit humid.
Here we are looking back to the gondola station.
It was mainly on a broad forestry track, busy with bikers and hikers. Most of the bikes were e-bikes. There were several good viewpoints.
After a while we reached Seebensee, a lovely small lake with mallards in attendance.
After a tea break by the lake we continued steeply up to Drachensee, where the mountain hut provided a good lunch. (We had no food with us, just a flask of tea.)
After a lengthy break at the Coburger hut, we headed back down, with great views to Seebensee and beyond.
The walk encountered fauna and flora. The flowers will be dealt with in a separate posting. Fauna was composed of a small black squirrel, lots of different breeds of sheep and cows, a flock of choughs, shrieking marmots and some attentive mallards.
On the way down, Sue went for a brief dip in the cold water of Seebensee. Then we walked back to the gondola station and with the aid of a bus we were back at the hotel by about 5pm.
Our walk was about 14km in length, with nearly 600 metres of ascent. It must have taken us 6-7 hours.
Question: why am I currently getting 5 to 10 times the usual page views. Is it You, or is it a fault within Google?
