Sunday 1 October 2017 – Happy Birthday!

It doesn’t seem like ten years since Sue and I started this blog in preparation for keeping in touch with friends and family when we went to New Zealand.

Since then we have initiated about 2,800 postings, which Google tells us have received 750,000 page views and 5,700 comments.

These days it’s very much my/our on-line diary, of interest mainly to friends and family, although the entries may provide a useful resource for people who are planning trips to parts of the world we have visited during those ten years.

We continue to enjoy compiling the entries, so long may the blog continue…

Coffee and cake was on offer, and that is what our guests consumed.

It was good to catch up with a few friends after our long trip to Canada. Thanks for coming, everyone, and thanks to those who sent their apologies, especially our former neighbours, Thomas and Andrea, for whom the journey from Heidelberg was just a bit much to contemplate. We miss you.

I even got to cut the cake.

Later, we went to Bacup to see the grandchildren who had been deprived of our company for two months, and to deliver Lucy and Jonathan’s Spiderman puzzle present. The Perfect Angels were delighted to see us, and they thank L and J and Zachariah and Cameron for the present.

Perfect Angels?

I think not!

Happy blogday Martin and Sue. Great trip reports from Canada. Sorry we missed the dooo, didnt catch up about it until this morning. Cake looks good.
What a great name for a band, "Shak and the Pharmacists".

Thanks Alan, we were sorry to miss you as well, but I can now take this opportunity to thank you for your many and varied comments, and for your encyclopaedic knowledge of .... tractors....

Long may it run!

Your round the world & hillwalking blog is the icing on the cake :)

PS: Enjoyed a fantastic time with my brother in the Western Highlands and on Rum.

Happy Bloggiversary! My tenth passed me by in February without me noticing.

Sorry to have missed the celebrations/cake - we would have popped up, except it clashed with eldest granddaughter's 13th birthday.

Thanks Markus, and Gayle. Your excuses for non attendance are accepted. We did manage to fill the venue anyway, and quite a bit of cake was eaten (and continues to be eaten...)
