A 7:30 start saw us to Keith and Carol's driveway in Crosby before 8:30, in plenty of time to assemble at the start of Crosby parkrun. In fact we watched the volunteers being briefed, from their front door (above).
It was the occasion of Keith's 200th parkrun, and that was duly celebrated.
Note the lovely artwork at the bottom of the parkrun sign.
Anthony Gormley's Iron Men feature strongly on this parkrun. Here's the one at the start.
The beach start, half an hour after a rapidly receding high tide, allowed all 203 participants to spread out well.
As is usual these days, I started from the back, from where I looked back to capture an image of the sunlit beach.
The course doubles back after passing around another iron man.
Looking into the sun, I caught a glimpse of Keith coming the other way on his quickest run for some time.
Sue (can you spot her?) wasn't far behind.
Here the stragglers make their way around the turning point iron man - he's the naked chap with the yellow helmet and bib..
It was hard going running along the sand towards the firmer surface of the promenade.
After turning at Brenda's Corner to finish on a slightly inland trajectory, the route follows a grassy path before reaching the traditional finish funnel.
We were joined by Andy Mac, who lives nearby, and (not pictured) Anthony Harrison, another Wythenshawe parkrunner, was also in the field, busy trying to clock up 100 different parkruns - this was number 94 for him.
Afterwards, Marianne, at the nearby Mencap cafe, served coffees and cakes.
This was another lovely parkrun outing, the full results for which are
here.
Here's how our team fared:
