After a sleepless journey home, a bit of fresh air found me enjoying Dunham New Park’s greenery in balmy Altrincham.
At least the sleepless night enabled me to get up to 20% in Ken Follett’s ‘The Pillars of the Earth’ (quite a long book), having already finished ‘The Girl from the Tea Garden’ by Janet MacLeod Trotter and Patrick deWitt’s excellent book, ‘The Sisters Brothers’ during the ‘beach holiday’.

Surprised you were not jet lagged (or ski-lagged) but you rarely seem to stop being on the move. I'm not familiar with those authors, but have just read Dissolution by C. J. Sansom which was given to me by Mick of Mick and Gayle fame. That is set in the time of Henry 8 and is a murder mystery with most of the action in a soon to be dissolved monastery - all good stuff with remarkable day to day detail of life in those days.
Haha Conrad, I felt a bit fuzzy this morning so went back to bed when Sue went to work.
I'm enjoying the Ken Follett book and I've made a note about 'Dissolution'. There are just too many good books out there, and some (eg 'The Bishop's Jaegers' by Thorne Smith, 1984, +++) that I'd like to read again.
Now back in the Timperley routine, which inevitably involves a trip to the dentist - pain now lessened as apparently the nerve that caused a few days' discomfort was apparently going through its death throes and won't hurt too much more unless it gets infected....
Welcome home. Timperley will feel quite tropical in comparison I presume.
Thanks Alan
Yes it is quite nice to go out without the need for gloves.
