Charley was today's Run Director. She is flanked by me and Cary for the simple reason that if we weren't there, she would crash to the ground. Sue has captured her above in a rare moment of stability.
The usual characters were in attendance - here Owen and Syd exchange insults...
At the start, Kate and Martha are checking that nobody makes a false start (that dodgy chap in green looks a likely culprit).
The event took place without incident (apart from lots of squidgy mud) and very little mention of the 'C' word, other than a consensus that folk would turn up next week for a 'Freedom' run, even if parkruns are put on hold. It was good to see many of the runners and walkers adjourning to the café.
Full results are here, generally on the slow side due to the mud, but with notable performances from some of Sale Harriers' youngsters, including a very fast ten year old girl. Well done Isobel.

I certainly wouldn't be attending next time. I am under orders for lock-down from my daughter. I intend to go for circular solo walks from the car in unpopulated areas when weather windows permit.
Have you read Mick and Gayle's account of supermarket chaos and total shutdown in Spain and tonight their account of their escape back towards the Channel Tunnel?
I am with Sir Hugh. Be careful what events you attend if you still want to visit your Mum. All park runs cancelled in Canada.
That sounds a wise plan, Conrad, and we wouldn't expect you to come all that way anyway. I was simply saying that a few healthy friends may meet up and go for an informal run, reaching the venue by bicycle, on foot, or by car. The risk from such an activity may be rather less than an essential to our local Spar shop for a carton of milk or other essentials? and possibly the biggest risk of all is of getting run over whilst traveling to the park?
I fully expect to see that M&G have arrived home around now - very disappointing for them to have had to abandon their holiday.
Mmm !?
And that's the final word on this posting. No more comments thank you.
I'm commenting on your comment referring to me, rather than on your post, so hopefully I'm not going against the spirit of your request for no more comments (and if I am, you can always delete this).
The situation in Spain has tempered any disappointment we would ordinarily have felt at having to abandon a trip, so much so that it's more of a relief than a disappointment. As things developed (at an incredibly rapid rate - three days from 'normal' to 'state of emergency'), if we had opted to stay, it would have been extremely difficult (if not impossible) to find somewhere to park that would have been acceptable to both us and the authorities; we would have been in breach of the decree restricting movement (which carries some harsh penalties) when we needed to move to empty our toilet or get water (neither being permitted activities within the decree); and we would have been stuck sitting inside Bertie for at least two weeks (unless we managed to obtain a dog to walk or were going to the supermarket). As much as I would rather be somewhere warm, without shoe-sucking mud on my running routes, home is the right place to be just now.
P.s. We're not home yet. I've just run three laps of the ramparts at Montreuil-sur-Mer: a place you know well.
Hi Gayle, I nearly suggested you came home via Montreuil. It's an easy journey to the tunnel, and you'll be safely home tomorrow.
Tonight, after having spent a lovely day, including lunch out, with my mum, and having enjoyed lots of socialising and a challenge walk over the weekend, we are having to make a start to our new life, in which social interaction is deemed to be irresponsible. So we won't go to tonight's jazz, several meetings for coffee etc are cancelled, and for the time being all I'll be going out for is runs, bikes rides, food shopping (we have no 'stock pile) and funerals. Meanwhile, Sue will have a somewhat different regime, traveling by tram to work in a hospital...
I'm sure there will be positive aspects of all this, and you can expect a call from me over the next few days.
