It had been ages since our last jazz event, thanks to Monday evening weather causing cancellations, so it was a pleasure to be at Eagley for this excellent band and some virtuoso performances by its members.
It was the return of one of the club's most popular bands, the Tame
Valley Stompers. Their blend of excellent Jazz with often hilarious
banter, ensures their popularity and a great night out for the
audience!
The line-up of the Tame Valley Stompers is: Roger
Wimpenny: Trumpet/Vocals, Tony Denton: Clarinet and Sax, John
Moreman: Trombone, John Gordon: Banjo/Guitar, Phll Kampen:
Bass, Pete Silenski: Drums.
John Gordon's guitar work was particularly memorable.
We were sorry to see Reg in difficulty with a poorly leg that had given way earlier in the day at Ann Oliver's funeral. Ann was a stalwart member of East Lancs LDWA and befriended many people in that group. She was a force to be reckoned with until the last few years, when dementure took its toll.
