Saturday 24 October 2026 - Wythenshawe parkrun #688

This is the last I saw of Sue, as she positioned herself for a speedy take off on a fine morning when just 266 runners and walkers turned up for some weekly exercise. Sue took her usual 25:56 over the 5 km.

There's plenty of room at the start.

Run Director Alan got things going, though two late arrivals will have missed his pearls.

Numbers mount

And they are off!

Rufus drags Paul for about a kilometre, then Jeanette takes over and pulls the dog to the finishing line.

I was nearly last to go round Sam's corner. I'd decided to photograph the marshals.

Here's David, or is it Paul, standing guard at Middle Bridge.

Middle Bridge, and a cold volunteer.

I had a mind to picture the leading runners, but I soon gave up in favour of the marshals,
who aren't as quick.

Beth was determined not to let anyone pass in the wrong direction at Far Bridge.

There's a lovely section of woodland on the other side of Middle Bridge.

It's David again, or is it Paul, in his usual position at the other side of Middle Bridge.

While I was on my second lap, Paul (or maybe David) had sidled up to Far Bridge to assist Beth.

Freddie looked exhausted!

There weren't many behind me at the finish. I had just managed to overhaul Kevin Maguire.

Kevin gets his barcode scanned by Mark.
It was a good temperature for running or walking, but pretty cool for barcode scanning.

"Job nearly done!"

At the finish - only ten behind me.

A deserted park...

Coffee and cake time, before the drying and sorting of 266 wet barcodes,
four of which were found to be missing.

"Why can't I have cake?"

Full results are here (nothing special this week).
