We returned from the Pyrenees with lots of new friends, resulting from encounters along the way. Here are four of them – Chantal, Joël, Yolaine and Pierre. We will see them again, though not as soon as hoped, as Chantal and Joël will be away on holiday themselves when we pass nearby their home in a couple of weeks’ time.

We go there tomorrow to encourage our son Bertrand who came specially from Normandie to run U.T.M.B. (Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc) 2300 runners, departure friday 4.30pm, arrival ? he plans between 5.50 and 7.30...

Thanks you two, and good luck to Bertrand. When we were last with Alessandro at Hotel Aigle near Courmeyeur he showed us a video of the race, which is a huge challenge. I seem to remember there was a very fast English lady called Elizabeth.
