After the last two weeks of constant exercise, Sue and I needed a gentle 5 km run to wind down. Andy (pictured centre) stumbled out of his nest to join the motley crew above who donned special headgear to encourage their mate Ralph on his first appearance as Run Director for the day.
Work on the Hall is continuing, with the temporary roof slowly coming along. It’s clearly going to be a long job. The photo was taken through the relatively flimsy fence that looks as if it is soon to be replaced by a more permanent structure, one of the posts for which is shown at the right hand side of the picture below.
285 runners turned up on a lovely morning on which Sue and I both wandered round the course at an amiable pace before adjourning for a ‘social’ at the café, which I finally left at 11 am, after arriving for the 25 minute run soon after 8.30.
The above pictures were taken at the start, and the one below was near the front of the pack where this ‘Formula 1’ buggy is getting ready for a fast run. Some of these buggies are very quick. I was dicing with a two seater version for some time, until it got delayed in the muddy passage, which despite the dry day was pretty muddy.
As indicated above, we spent ages at the café, where Ralph’s support team was joined by Lisa. (Ralph is missing as he was engaged in processing the results.)
The results are here.
