Monday 30 April 2018 - A Muro Circuit

A Bike Ride:

Puerto Pollença > back roads to Alcudia > Parc Natural de S'Albufera de Mallorca > Muro > Sa Pobla > Coves de Campanet > Golf Pollença > Puerto Pollenća

72 km, 590 metres ascent, 6.25 hours.

Sue went off for a mini adventure.**

I went to Rent March to pick up an excellent Trek Zektor 3 hybrid bicycle. Robert and Lyn joined me there with their own bikes for this gentle pedal around some flattish lanes and tracks of Mallorca. Viewranger's ascent statistics are subject to debate. The bird reserve provided coffee from a machine for 50 cents after 20 km. That and some of Robert's crushed biscuits kept us going through the reserve, where we paused to admire a flock of Black-winged Stilts. A pie and cake bakery in Muro then supplied pasties and cake for lunch.

After a gloriously sunny morning it started to cloud over in the afternoon, but messages from a "rainy Kent" and a "stair rods in Amsterdam" made us happy to be enjoying warm, dry weather here, however brief.

Returning to base by 4.30 gave us plenty of time, once Sue had arrived with the shopping, to enjoy a long and satisfying evening.

** - this should have referred to the promised diary entry from Sue, but we still await the delights of that composition...
