Lockdown

We are so lucky to have a garden. At least we can get outside in these difficult and unprecedented 'Lockdown' times.

Looks good. I too have a decent garden and tended to take it for granted until I started realising how compromised people are living in high rise flats and the like.

I wonder how much higher that hedge (or is it Leylandii) goes beyond the top of the photo.? It must be tricky cutting it on the top?

Yes Conrad (and it's good to hear from you), we are so fortunate. I've just spent a very pleasant half hour chatting to our neighbours over the fence. The top of the Leylandii is just out of the picture. We get it trimmed to the same height every spring. Chris and Darren (who do the work) say that if you lie on the top it feels just like a mattress! The positioning is such that they don't block anyone's sunlight, but they do shield the view to and from some (into) bedroom windows.

Like the Man Cave on the left...

Hardly a Man Cave, HMP3, the shed is full of bikes and gardening equipment. There is however a comfy chair that normally sits beside the table with the mug.... from where this morning I had a lovely half hour chat with our neighbours.

We also live in Timperley (just off Ash Grove) also feel very lucky to have a garden at this time, and I was pleased to learn they're doing a one-off green bin empty next week too!

Somehow managed to stumble across your blog while researching Timperley/Altrincham railway history. If I see you out on a run (and I'm managing to get in many more miles than I usually would) I'll be sure to give you a wave. If I'm absolutely certain it's you I might shout something like 'it's me from the blog!'.

All the best to you and your family.

Hi Jon, thanks for the comment. Well, well, after 12 years of blog postings from 'Postcard from Timperley' someone in Timperley has actually found the blog and made a comment!

We live in Balmoral Drive and my current daily run - between 7 and 8 am (slow and stiff, but very few people about) is a circuit comprising Walton Road, Marsland Road, Derbyshire Road South, then various roads and ginnels to return home via Sylvan Avenue. Opposite direction on alternate days. I wear an orange cap.

If you haven't explored the old railway line, you can access it from the canal towpath. Lots of brambles, but you can follow the old track to well beyond the recycling depot.

You might pick up from the blog that we are parkrunners, usually at Wythenshawe. Maybe see you there when all this is over....

Best wishes, and stay safe.

Martin
