After our usual Saturday morning activities - (not)parkrun, quiz, gathering at Wythenshawe, etc - Sue and I met up with Family Roberts for a 9 km stroll along the towpath to Dunham Massey, returning through the golf course in the dark.

Once in Dunham Massey's grounds, the children were transfixed by the magical fallow deer. Or were they?
A fabulous new set of fountains has been laid on for the thousands of Christmas visitors.
And the trees had acquired some strange coloured hues.
Or were they?
Anyway, we had a lovely walk in fine company, I took some crappy pictures in the dim light, we admired what we could, and we all went home for a nice cuppa, after thanking the weather gods for providing a warm and dry, if rather gloomy day.

This period is extremely busy at Dunham. When we walked there in Christmas week on 27th. December one year, the parkland was packed and the traffic backed up Charcoal Road towards the A56. We avoided the shop - well we couldn't even get in.
For the last few evenings we've seen mysterious light beams sweeping around the sky and eventually realized it was the Dunham laser light show. I guess we could get walk there with head torches but never have yet.

We've taken the grandchildren to the light show in years past, but sadly not this year. The park is busy, but it's easy to keep out of the way of people. Going via the canal, Swan, park, then golf course, makes an excellent walk from home that we do frequently.
