Wythenshawe parkrun #535 and a Community Run

On a fine, warm Saturday morning, some 348 runners turned out for their Saturday morning parkrun - quite a change from the 188 who braved last week's deluge!

I hadn't seen Cary (pictured above at the finish) for a while so it was good to catch up and hear about his recent trip to Iceland. We took it easy, with me slipping ahead just near the finish, taking 31 minutes or so for the 5km. The full results are here.

Jan decided to assist Alan on 'Funnel Control', before joining a gang of us outside the cafe, for coffee, brownies, and token sorting.

On Sunday morning I was volunteering at the Community Run, by way of marshalling at 'Alty out', from where all the rest of the photos in this posting were taken. This is the point at which the Sunday morning route leaves the park and joins the pavement beside the A560 road for a few hundred metres.

To the left, a cricket game starring Asian lads was in progress, and the leader of the run can be seen to have gained a good gap over the second person after reaching me at about the 1.5km mark

Third, fourth and fifth on the first lap

Colin runs as a pacer, usually around 30 minutes; today he was all alone,
but still looking constantly at his watch, checking his pace

I was surprised to see the push chair team well established in thrird place on the second lap. The child seemed to be equipped with a substantial library,

100 runners (2km and 5km) took part on a very pleasant morning. The only hiccup on my part was that I forgot to take the fudge brownies that I was to donate to the runners at the finish.
