Meals on Wheels under Lockdown

Lockdown is difficult for an elderly person with dodgy replaced hips. Especially when they live on their own and have been 'socially distancing' when they should have been having 95th birthday celebrations.

I took some frozen lasagne portions to Dot when I took her for her eye injection on 14 April (I've hardly been out since then), and I plan to take some more on the day of her next injection on 26 May.

Meanwhile, yesterday, my daughter Kate took more provisions, courtesy of her own and her mum's cooking. Thanks go to both of them for helping to restock Dot's freezer. I think she probably has more food provisions than we do in Timperley!

Kate had a good, socially distanced, chat with her grandma before taking the above photo through the living room window.

Stay safe, everyone...

Lockdown is indeed difficult for elderly people particularly when some special occasion can’t be celebrated in the usual fashion. Happy Birthday Dot!

We are keeping Lynne’s mum supplied via monthly online grocery shopping delivered to her door and local volunteers top her up in between.

You all keep safe.

Thanks Gibson. Dot's grocery shopping is all under control, but she welcomes extra things that she can simply put into the microwave, as her hips get very painful when she has to stand to do cooking. I think her freezer is now overflowing!
Take care.

As you know, Mick's mum is within one day of being the exact same age as your's, so she has also missed out on her 95th birthday celebrations. Alas, she has also thus far missed out on any face-to-face (whilst socially distanced!) interactions with any of her family and has had to make do with daily phone calls. It will be so nice when we can finally get up there to see her, even if 'seeing' means at distance in the garden or through a window.

I do hope Mick's mum is managing okay. Hopefully she is a bit more mobile than Dot, who welcomed the frozen food packs from my daughter and her mum. I think Kate probably enjoyed the long round trip - from Bacup via Manchester - as a bit of respite from two very active children, and some challenging work on GCSE and A level results.
