Saturday 21 May 2022 - Penrith parkrun, and a trip to Braemar

Sue and I enjoyed Penrith parkrun this morning before heading up to Braemar.

After a short Deeside stroll, we bumped into a few TGO Challengers.

Interesting to note that none of those challengers appear to be wearing proper boots, just an observation, not a criticism. I have been walking for ages in some trainer type ankle boots with waterproof lining and my feet remain as dry as they ever have done. However, after traversing a steep hillside a couple of walks ago my feet were squashed sideways in that footwear and it was decidedly painful. So for the last couple of walks I switched back to my Zamberlan boots because I have been back on higher moorland trods and the like, and the advantage is well noticeable. Trainers are still fine for modest lowland country walking I reckon.

Interesting observation Conrad. Many Challengers use trail shoes. A lot have dropped out this year. Many of those due to foot problems. I prefer boots and dry feet.
