On a rainy day, we took the bus then gondola up to the top of the Ehrwalder Almbahn.
From there, we strolled up the wide track towards the Pestkapelle.
Sue practiced her 'cow whispering' techniques.
The rain was still light as we passed Pestkapelle.
The zigzagy track took us up to the Hochfeldern Alm mountain hut.
Hot chocolate for me, coffee for Sue, and schnapps for Hansi.
As we left to return downhill, a crocodile of children with red rucksack covers were eschewing the comforts of this mountain hut in favour of a further ascent. Could they have been going all the way to the Steinernes Hutte?
Back at Pestkapelle, it was damp. We were decidedly in a cloud.
From there a lovely mountain path led through the trees to meet the track to Seebensee that we took on Monday.
Today we didn't return directly to the Almbahn, diverting instead to Almsee, a small lake surrounded by swathes of wild flowers.
After the 400 metre circuit of the lake we returned to the start of the walk and a gondola ride through the cloud.
We were just in time for the 12:15 bus, and were enjoying lunch in our hotel room a little later.
Here's our route - a little over 8km, with around 300 metres ascent.
Back at base, the cloud has lifted a bit but it continues to rain. Here's the view from Room 309.
