While I sort photos from a UK weekend, here's a guest entry from Wuxing Nick in Nuremberg.
He's obviously been adventuring in the forests of Bavaria, and reports as follows:
Here are some pics for a 'slow news‘ day…
It‘s tree harvesting time in Bavaria.
While it’s not uncommon to see ‘hobby farmers’ out with a tractor and a
chainsaw, the professionals use this enormous beast - the Ponsse Scorpion King:
https://youtu.be/ltz2VYFdaIg - yours for
around €600K.
Not much liked by nature-lovers as their 20+ tonnes compact the ground and
destroy everything that gets in their way. I’ve seen one parked - it’s huge!
Attached photos show the devastation left behind, a special tractor for Alan (pictured above),
being used to pick up the measured-to-length logs, and some autumn colour.

Thanks Nick, this provides an interesting interlude, to be contrasted with some pictures from County Durham - but first for me, a visit to the 'booster jab centre', and then to the physio who is helping to nurse my foot back to health.

I've seen one of those beasts working in Gisburn forest — I couldn't believe what it could do, frightening really. I never thought to video it.
