The main purpose of this blog is to keep in touch with friends and family, and maybe entertain others with common interests, particularly in relation to the outdoors. We hope you enjoy it, and your comments are valued....
I did the Manchester Marathon (slowly) and my dodgy knee recovered to its usual state very quickly after that. But 20km day walks from Craiganour led me to conclude that two weeks of 20-30km days with 10-15kg on my back would prove too much of an endurance test, so I withdrew. Sue and I will drive up to Drum on Sunday and have a two week holiday during the Challenge, helping with TGO Control as needed. (I think I will be handed a kettle, tea pot and lots of biscuits to distribute as appropriate.)
Yes BC, it was a hard decision. Still not really sure if it was the right one. I've really enjoyed all 12 Challenges I've done, and I don't think I would have done this year, even if I'd got across. It'll be a nice holiday.
So sorry to read that you withdrawn from the challenge. I know it would have been a tough decision for you. I’m sure you and Sue’s skills will be well used at Chally control. Have a good holiday anyway. All the best Martin.

And why are you not in Torridon? Hope all is well.

You beat me to it using that new word.
I also wonder what has happened to the TGO Challenge.

Good but hard decision Martin.
Enjoy your holiday.

Thanks Alan. Particularly disappointing given the superb weather they are enjoying...
